The 2002 update of the ASTM standard highlights the significance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, recommending against plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) is in alignment with ASTM.A 882/A882M-96, upholding rigorous standards for epoxy-coated strand products, ensuring unparalleled quality across both types.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are globally recognized for their exceptional corrosion resistance, necessitating precise coating thickness and immaculate surface integrity with no pinholes, as stipulated by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a specifies a coating thickness range of 0.38 - 1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while ISO 14655:1999 (E) dictates a range of 0.40 - 0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the thickness requirement is precisely 0.65 - 1.15mm.
