At present, two distinguished international standards regulate epoxy-coated steel strands: ASTM.A882/A882M-02a and ISO 14655:1999 (E), which delineate two essential categories: epoxy-coated filled strands and epoxy-coated steel strands. The 2002 revision of the ASTM standard underscores the criticality of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, recommending against the use of plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) is in alignment with ASTMA 882/A882M-96, upholding rigorous criteria for epoxy-coated strand products, ensuring unmatched quality across both variants.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are globally celebrated for their exceptional corrosion resistance, which demands precise coating thickness and perfect surface quality without any pinholes, as required by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a specifies a coating thickness range of 0.38 - 1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while ISO 14655:1999 (E) mandates a range of 0.40 - 0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the thickness requirement is precisely 0.65 - 1.15mm.
