The updated 2002 ASTM standard emphasizes the significance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, while not endorsing plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) reflects ASTM'sA 882/A882M-96, maintaining stringent regulations for epoxy-coated strand products, guaranteeing superior quality across both categories.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are celebrated for their extraordinary corrosion resistance, necessitating precise coating thickness and flawless surface integrity without pinholes, as demanded by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a prescribes a coating thickness between 0.38 -1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while IS0 14655:1999 (E) specifies a range of 0.40-0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the required thickness is 0.65 -1.15mm, ensuring optimal protection.
