Presently, two leading international standards regulate epoxy-coated steel strands: ASTM.A882/A882M-02a and ISO 14655:1999 (E), which define two essential types: epoxy-coated filled strands and epoxy-coated steel strands. The 2002 update of the ASTM standard highlights the significance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, discouraging the use of plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) aligns with ASTMA 882/A882M-96, upholding strict guidelines for epoxy-coated strand products to ensure outstanding quality across both varieties.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are globally recognized for their exceptional corrosion resistance, necessitating precise coating thickness and an immaculate surface without pinholes, as required by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a specifies a coating thickness range of 0.38 - 1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while ISO 14655:1999 (E) requires a range of 0.40 - 0.90mm.
