The 2002 revision of the ASTM standard highlights the importance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands and advises against the use of plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) harmonizes with ASTM.A 882/A882M-96, upholding rigorous guidelines for epoxy-coated strand products and ensuring exceptional quality across both types.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are globally renowned for their superior corrosion resistance. They demand precise coating thickness and impeccable surface integrity, free from pinholes, as stipulated by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a prescribes a coating thickness range of 0.38 - 1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while ISO 14655:1999 (E) specifies a range of 0.40 - 0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the precise thickness requirement is 0.65 - 1.15mm.
