The 2002 revision of the ASTM standard underscores the significance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, advising against plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) harmonizes with ASTMA 882/A882M-96, upholding rigorous guidelines for epoxy-coated strand products, ensuring premium quality across both types.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are globally recognized for their remarkable corrosion resistance, requiring precise coating thickness and impeccable surface integrity with zero pinholes, as stipulated by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a dictates a coating thickness range of 0.38 - 1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while ISO 14655:1999 (E) specifies a range of 0.40 - 0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the thickness requirement is precisely 0.65 - 1.15mm.
