Two prominent international standards currently guide epoxy-coated steel strands: ASTM.A882/A882M-02a and IS0 14655:1999 (E). These standards define two distinct categories: epoxy-coated filled strands and epoxy-coated steel strands. The 2002 revision of the ASTM standard emphasizes the significance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, while it does not recommend plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) closely mirrors ASTMA 882/A882M-96, thereby upholding rigorous guidelines for epoxy-coated strand products, ensuring excellence across both types.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are celebrated for their outstanding corrosion resistance, requiring precise coating thickness and impeccable surface integrity with no pinholes, as outlined by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a stipulates a coating thickness ranging from 0.38 -1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, while IS0 14655:1999 (E) specifies a thickness of 0.40-0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the required thickness is 0.65 -1.15mm.
Both ASTM A882/A882M-02a and IS0 14655:1999 (E) ensure the absence of pinholes throughout the entire length of our epoxy-coated steel strands, a standard our products meet with flawless precision.
