Currently, two foremost international standards govern epoxy-coated steel strands: prominently ASTM.A882/A882M-02a, along with IS0 14655:1999 (E). These standards delineate two unique types: epoxy-coated filled strands and epoxy-coated steel strands. The 2002 revision of the ASTM standard emphasizes the significance of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, while advising against plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) aligns closely with ASTM.A 882/A882M-96, maintaining stringent criteria for epoxy-coated strand products, thereby ensuring unparalleled quality in both types.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are esteemed for their exemplary corrosion resistance, necessitating precise coating thickness and flawless surface integrity without pinholes, as mandated by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a prescribes a coating thickness of 0.38 -1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, whereas IS0 14655:1999 (E) mandates a thickness of 0.40-0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the thickness should be 0.65 -1.15mm.
