The 2002 revision of the ASTM standard emphasizes the critical nature of epoxy-coated filled steel strands, advising against plain epoxy-coated steel strands. ISO 14655:1999 (E) aligns with ASTMA 882/A882M-96, upholding rigorous guidelines for epoxy-coated strand products, ensuring superior quality across both types.
Epoxy-coated steel strands are globally recognized for their exceptional corrosion resistance, necessitating precise coating thickness and perfect surface integrity with no pinholes, as required by both standards.ASTM A 882/A882M-02a specifies a coating thickness range of 0.38 - 1.14mm for epoxy-coated filled strands, whereas ISO 14655:1999 (E) stipulates a range of 0.40 - 0.90mm. For epoxy-coated strands, the thickness requirement is specifically 0.65 - 1.15mm.
